Convenient Information for OSCO Affiliate Club Members

Visit the Schedule of Upcoming Tournaments and Events often and pass along to your members the fliers linked from the page. Please submit anything you may have for the schedule at the earliest possible opportunity to help avoid conflicts. Conducting an interscholastic chess tournament can be a nice club fundraiser.

Scholastic Tournament Final Standings Charts are usually posted within a few days of Oklahoma scholastic tournaments.

Make sure your scholastic club is on the Chess Clubs page, to better network with other clubs and be more visible to potential new members.

Established scholastic clubs may also find useful information in the Starting A Chess Club section of this website, including:
Recommended chess books, software and videos
where to get the best deals on chess club supplies on the Budget page,
training materials information,
ideas for operating and funding your club.

Hosting an interscholastic tournament is an excellent chess club fundraiser.

Order a USCF Scholastic chess club affiliate information packet.
Simply request one from USCF Club Development 931-787-1234, ext. 128. This includes a hard copy of A Guide to Scholastic Chess, the USCF Catalog, plus several other very helpful publications. In the packet you'll receive information about several U.S. Chess Trust programs, including Chess for Youth. Chess for Youth is a program that donates up to 5 free chess sets to qualifying schools around the county. It is also known as “Kolty Chess for Youth,” named for its famous founder, George Koltanowski.

US Chess Trust's "Chess for Youth" Free USCF Membership Program for up to 10 students in the Federal School Lunch Program.
For more info about this program, also click HERE. First send out a letter to parents regarding Free USCF Scholastic Membership Program (in MS Word format). After receiving the parent requests, a school official will submit the letter to USCF regarding Free USCF Scholastic Memberships from the Chess for Youth Program (sample letter in MS Word format with information at quotes to be edited). With the letter, also submit the Chess-for-Youth Application Form.  Please start this process as early as possible, because it can take a month or more to receive the vouchers. Email admin@okschess.org for additional contact info for this program to help expedite things.

USCF memberships can be submitted and paid on-line by USCF Affiliate Clubs and Tournament Directors. There is a $2 affiliate discount for most memberships processed in this manner at the USCF TD/Affiliates Area. This discount is also passed along for USCF registrations at OSCO Grand Prix tournaments.
