Hello Fellow OSCO Patrons, Parents and Players ,

Chess Adventure Summer Camp turned 5 years old last week.  Former OSCO President Albert and his wife Charlotte Rine organized the weeklong chess camp.  The fun began on July 13th and didn’t end until the final awards ceremony on Friday.

Kenny Lin and Stephen Gehly were the top rated OSCO juniors and their camp tournament game was real fireworks.  Reverend Ed Boyle has entered some games from the Chess Adventure Summer Camp Tournament for review in the interactive game section.  Also see, Instructor John Cope’s article on the Human Chess Event and the creative King’s Indian Defense played by black peices.  Scholastic chess season is just around the corner and a little extra study can sure lead to an edge in the first tournament.

Fun..tastic  was the game plan for the Chess Adventure Summer Camp from beginners to experienced tournament players. Over 60 juniors participated in this year’s Camp and tournament.  During break time, many chess juniors enjoyed Bug-House Chess, a very vocal partner game.  Somehow, the Camp should find time for a Bug-House event in the future.

Guest speakers included National Masters, Postal Champions and many other well known tournament chess players. The Camp was very fast paced and there was little free time.

Chess Adventure Summer Camp founder, Julie Luscomb, is next year’s organizer and sign up starts soon! The Camp is scheduled at Rejoice Christian Schools in Owasso at the South Campus.

Chess Adventure thanks all of the volunteers, parents and organizers for another successful year!

Best Wishes,

Chuck Unruh, Vice President Chess Adventure
