Give club purchased chess books and videos to the library for proper availability to all members. Recruit additional faculty sponsors (this is very important for graceful succession from year-to-year when sponsors have other opportunities). Receive information mailed to school for the club. Contact Faculty Sponsors of the chess clubs at the schools feeding into yours. Get the year end tournament results from them for the last few years. Identify computers in the school for chess training software to be available for members to use. Arrange for display of trophies and awards won by the club's team at scholastic chess tournaments. Submit grant applications to the school's foundation or other funding sources. Identify contacts for school / district newsletter articles and web site information posting Get school approval for tournaments with players from other schools to be conducted at that location. Notify faculty if there is funding available to help financial hardship cases with the club dues. It's best not to announce to the students, and instead ask the faculty to help identify these students. Hardship cases should be handled though the school administration and not the club organizer in the interest of confidentiality. |
